The MEEM mobile phone charger cable has launched on Crowdcube with a hidden secret.

Although MEEM looks like a snazzy charger cable, it also backs up all the data on your smartphone or tablet, without you even knowing.

Although much of your data is backed up to iCloud or Google if you have a smartphone or Gmail account, this little gadget will back everything up even if you’re offline and you can carry it around with you, just in case you need to restore your device on the move.

It also means you can transfer data including contacts, calendar, messages, photos, videos and much more between an iPhone and an Android device, for example, if you want to switch sides.

To do this, you just plug in the MEEM, launch an app and drag and drop the elements you want to transfer between the two devices.

Kelly Sumner, founder of MEEM said: “MEEM supports the upgrade to smartphones because it seamlessly and simply facilitates the transfer of personal data from old phones to new. Once the transition has been made, MEEM protects the users’ data through its simple and secure back-up that fits in to the daily charging routine and enables the transfer of data across multiple devices, regardless of technology platform.”

MEEM is also future-proofed for the wireless charging world, because it’s ready to go when the technology is standardised across all devices.

The company is appealing for £400,000 of funding on Crowdcube in exchange for 3.49 per cent of equity. If you invest more than £500, you’ll get your very own MEEM too, for either Android or iPhone.

“MEEM is a simple, convenient and secure backup solution that presents no technical or habit changing barriers to adoption and will be a considerable asset to both users and the mobile phone industry generally,” Sumner said.
