A staff pick on Kickstarter, Openmix looks like one of those products people could get into. It’s a portable audio mixer for smartphones and other portable music devices, enabling you to switch between music sources.

Crowdfunding the DJ…

You connect the small Openmix device to your home speaker (or a full sound system if you’re engaged in becoming a digital DJ). The device features a miniaturized audio crossfader with which users can “mix” two tracks or create smooth transitions between tracks.

The secret is the existence of a third input, so you can add an iPad to the mix in order to apply any of a range of effects taken from one of the many popular DJ apps.

The project team say they’ve spent months developing the product and tweaking the device in order to deliver the best possible audio.
