Car care comparison website Dipstix has surpassed its funding goal on Seedrs that offered investors 15.5 per cent equity with a total investment of £300,000.

The website builds on the success of car insurance comparison sites, but instead of offering you the best deals on insurance, it scours the internet to find the best prices to get work done on your car.

Whether your MOT is looming, your motor is due its annual service or something’s broken, Dipstix will find the best prices, also allowing you to book the service online, saving time phoning around the garages in the area.

To find what you need, you simply need to enter your password, your car’s registration and some details about what work needs doing, such as minor service, major service, MOT and diagnostic check if something’s just not right. When you’ve confirmed your car make, model and mileage, you’re presented with a list of local businesses that can help you with your query.

In addition to showing where you can get the service, MOT or repair carried out and being able to opt in for pick up and drop off, you can also get discounts by registering your vehicle with the website.

Listings are displayed in order of distance from your postcode alongside the next booking slot available, cost and additional information from the garage itself (such as if they’re an official supplier of the make). When you’ve found a quote you like the look of, you can click to book the slot in just a few steps.

Dipstix was launched in 2013 and has 1000 garages signed up so far. An average of 150 bookings a month are made through the website, with interest increasing by 50 per cent per month.

The money raised by investors will go towards improving the technology used on the websites and development of an app, recruiting more staff and marketing the platform.
